A bride and groom have faced a raft of backlash online after sending a text message to their wedding guests telling them that gifts over £400 "would be appreciated a lot."
One of the people who was invited to the event replied simply by saying "No, I won't go" to the outrageous message. Taking to Reddit, the surprised guest shared a screenshot of the message they received from the couple.
Many people flooded the comments sharing their frustration at the text message and were also baffled that the event was set to be starting at 6am which many felt was ridiculous.

In the screenshot one of the guests shared, some of the writing was blurred out to avoid revealing too many details. But the visible portion of the text read: "Hi, we are hoping that you will be attending the wedding.
"The whole thing starts at 6am. We would appreciate if all guests would book their own room at the hotel. Gifts over £400 are appreciated a lot. Can't wait to see you."
In the comments, many were left astonished by the outlandish request.
One person joked: "Not can't go, but won't go."
Another stated: "Being somewhere at 6am to hand over £400 is the icing on the cake."
A third penned: "You want me to wake up at 4am for your wedding?"
Another person said they would go out the night before and carry on drinking until the early morning event.
They added: "I’m just going to go out late the night before and show up drunk if that’s the case."
"A £400 donation to charity on behalf of the married couple," stated another who would not want to spend that much money on a gift.
