People donated $100k to dig a hole for no reason whatsoever

People have donated more than $100,000 to fund the digging of a hole without knowing why. 

The people behind the sardonic card game “Cards Against Humanity” launched the dig in undisclosed location in the US as a Black Friday stunt, simply for the sake of digging the hole – so their website, holidayhole.com, says. 

“The holidays are here, and everything in America is going really well,” they said. “To celebrate Black Friday, Cards Against Humanity is digging a tremendous hole in the earth.” 

Since the site’s Friday launch, they raised – or wasted – $100,573 by the  

The money solely funds the cost and the livestream of the dig. 

In the Frequently Asked Questions section, the CAH people admit their is no deeper purpose. 

“You’re supposed to think it’s funny,” they write. “You might not get it for a while, but some time next year you’ll chuckle quietly to yourself and remember all this business about the hole.”

The site is no longer accepting donations – many of which amounted to more than $1,000.
