The mystery of Cusp Of Carabelli has been the talk of social media since he ran at the Galway Races on Friday.
Jumping the final fence at Ballybrit in the Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Chase, Cusp Of Carabelli was only in ninth place and seemingly out of the running.
Indeed, as the runners rounded the final bend and drifted towards the stand side rail, JJ Slevin's mount was nowhere to be seen.
It looked to be a three way battle for the winning post between Mindsmadeup, Mr Diable and Bay Hill.
But in the closing stages Cusp Of Carabelli seemed to ghost into the race out of nowhere and appeared on the far side rail to finish a close third.
Racing commentator Jerry Hannon was also shocked by the sudden appearance of the 11/1 shot, quickly mentioning the late run of the horse before it hit the line.
Trainer Fergal O'Brien joked that the in running comments of the David O'Brien runner read: "Joined race 100yds out through a hole in the space-time continuum. Still only managed third."
Many people were completely baffled by the 'ghost horse' who seemed to disappear rounding the final bend and then appear again at the closing stages.
And Racing UK even produced their own mythbuster video that included a head-on shot of the runners that did debunk the mystery.
Cusp Of Carabelli hugged the inside rail turning the final bend and went out of the camera shot that followed the other runners on the stand side rail.
Still, we think there was some sorcery going on!
