People baffled after discovering what this hands emoji actually means

Most people love an emoji and use them in pretty much every message they send to their friends.

The crying with laughter face, hearts and big eyes are favourites for many of us, but there are a huge selection of weird and wonderful offerings sitting on your keypad.

The real meanings isn't a new thing, and many people have been surprised over the years to discover what those little faces and symbols are actually supposed to be used for.

But now the two hands emoji is baffling people, and many of us have been using it very, very wrong.

Many people believe the picture shows a person praying, leading to them using it for religious reasons or as a way of saying 'please' or being hopeful.

However others are sure it's actually meant to be a high-five, and use it to celebrate things.

The debate has been around for several years, but it's resurfacing again as more people discover things might not be quite as they seem.

But people have pointed out that the emoji comes up when you search both praying and high-five, suggesting it can actually be used for both.

However in China it has a whole different meaning , which means sending it to congratulate someone could land you in serious trouble.

It's used as an emoji for sex, so sending it to the wrong person could be very, very embarrassing.
