People Are Suss Over Travis Kelce’s Re-Released Movie Review Praising Blake Lively

In a new twist to the rumoured friendship breakdown between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift, her fiancé, Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, have seemingly praised the actress in an episode of the New Heights Film Club.

Shortly after Swift broke the internet with her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl — which has copped some scathing reviews — the football duo dropped another episode of their New Heights Film Club.

In this episode, the brothers reviewed the beloved 2005 flick Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, starring Swift’s rumoured ex-bestie, Lively.

While both Swift and Lively have remained tight-lipped on the current status of their friendship, the Kelce bros have seemingly shared some insight on where they stand.

Within the episode, the brothers praised Lively for her role as Bridget Vreeland.

“It is also the film debut of our friend Blake Lively. She killed it. Absolutely wonderful as Bridget,” Jason shared before Travis jumped in by saying “Absolutely”.

“I might be a little biased, but I thought Bridget’s story was the most relatable and probably the most fun,” Travis added.

The pair went on to say they related to Bridget’s storyline the most due to the fact she was an athlete. However, they did poke fun at Lively’s running form.

“I got to admit, not the best run. Blake, I love you, it does not strike me as a star athlete run,” Jason laughed.

While the episode was shared this week, the description states that it was originally recorded in October of last year, specifically October 10, 2024.

But despite the brothers clarifying the OG recording date, some viewers believe that the timing of the upload was “intentional”, especially with Swift dropping her internet-breaking album last week.

“I don’t care when it was filmed. It’s being promoted now, and that timing is intentional. Given the current discourse around [Lively], choosing to air this at this exact moment is a strategic move, and a deeply questionable one,” one fan wrote on YouTube.

“This eps was from Oct 2024. IDK what kind of PR stunt this is, but it’s weird,” another penned.

“Randomly reposting this in context to what is going on right now is very sus,” wrote a third.

Why are fans questioning the timing of Travis and Jason Kelce’s Blake Lively episode?

Prior to the release of The Life of a Showgirl, it had been speculated that Swift and Lively’s friendship was on the rocks due to Lively’s heated legal battle with It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, where she accused him sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

Baldoni claimed Lively referred to Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as her “dragons” that would “protect” her over any issues with the movie It Ends With Us. Due to Swift being mentioned, she was subpoenaed to testify in the case.

However, Swift’s legal team fought back and said her involvement in the lawsuit was “tabloid clickbait” in a statement to the BBC. A spokesperson for Lively also confirmed they supported Swift’s team in getting the subpoenas tossed.

Recently, a federal judge denied Baldoni’s request to depose Swift in the ongoing defamation and sexual harassment lawsuits between the two actors.

Since being dragged into the legal battle, it’s been speculated that Swift had “cut ties” with Lively, with a source telling PEOPLE that the two “aren’t as close and haven’t been spending as much time together as they did in the past”.

With the new album making headlines, some Swifties have theorised that “CANCELLED!” is about Lively — specifically the lyric “Good thing I like my friends cancelled / I like ‘em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal” — because Swift was spotted wearing the same bracelet the actress wore to the It Ends With Us premiere, and the fact that she’d modelled for Gucci fragrance campaigns in the past.

At the time of writing, neither party have commented on their current friendship status. However, fans are still super suss over the timing of Travis and Jason’s re-released episode.
