People are selling 'Avengers: Endgame' tickets for thousands of dollars on eBay

The "Avengers: Endgame" hype is real. Plenty of ticket-buyers have decided to give up their shot at seeing the movie on opening weekend in exchange for cash.

Tickets for opening weekend shows sold out quickly when they went on sale Tuesday and crashed ticket sites like AMC and Fandango. AMC Theatres announced on Wednesday that the movie shattered the record for first-day presales, beating out the previous record-holder, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," by more than 50 percent.

There are currently more than 350 listings on eBay for Endgame tickets _ and while many are listed for $100 or less, some are ridiculously pricey.

For New Yorkers, there's a ticket to a showing at the Regal E-Walk Stadium 13 & RPX Theater on 42nd Street for $7,500 ... at 8:30 a.m. That means you'll have plenty of time later in the day to regret taking the day off and spending the equivalent of 2,727 subway fares to see a three-hour movie.

One ticket to a 10 p.m. showing in New Orleans on opening night will set you back $5,000, but movie-goers in Silver Spring, Mass., can purchase eight tickets for a 9 p.m. showing for the same price.

A generous seller in Reno, Nev., is offering two tickets for $15,000. Or if you prefer to avoid a bidding war, you can "Buy It Now" for only $10,000 more! That's $25,000 for what the seller calls "the best middle seats in the house."

So far, very few tickets have actually sold for exorbitant amounts, but apparently at least one Marvel fan in New Jersey has the means to splurge on tickets. A pair of tickets to an AMC Dine-In showing in the Garden State sold for $15,000 on Wednesday.

No, that's not a typo. At least they came with a limited edition poster.
