People are pooing and leaving sanitary waste in a Swansea hut used by school children

Human excrement, toilet roll and sanitary towels are being left in a hut used frequently by school children at a local nature reserve.

A hut in Bishop's Wood, Newton, Swansea , is regularly used by Forest School, a charity which aims to provide opportunities for youngsters across the whole of Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to enjoy their natural environment.

But it is being left in a disgusting state on a weekly basis.

On a recent visit, human excrement and toilet roll, along with used sanitary towels and broken glass were spotted strewn around the grounds.

A road to a cemetery was peppered with rubbish chucked from cars so one man did something about it

Beer bottles and cans, metal canisters, crisp packets, plastic bottles, bags and cigarettes were also discovered, before being cleared away by a volunteer.

Bishop's Wood is described as a classic example of limestone woodland, which is relatively rare in Britain.

Part of the wood is classified as ancient woodland which means it has been wooded since at least the seventeenth century as indicated in the 1673 survey of Bishopston Manor.

A Swansea Council spokesman said: "It is never acceptable for people visiting any part of Swansea to leave rubbish behind instead of using a waste bin.

"We work hard to keep Swansea litter free by carrying out regular litter picks and responding to reports of fly-tipping. We are also grateful to volunteers who take it upon themselves to assist us in keeping the city clean."

What the law says about littering...

The law on littering

It is not the first time human excrement has been littered in Swansea of late.

A woman was spotted defecating on a busy street in the middle of Swansea city centre in front of shoppers on Tuesday, March 19.

And on March 6, there was outrage after a woman was  photographed defecating on the beach on Swansea’s seafront .
