People are only just realising how a ballpoint pen works - and claim 'life is a lie'

Have you ever felt personally victimised after stumbling across a viral video online, which disproves something you believed your whole life? This happened to one woman - who has now claimed that her whole "life is a lie" - after she came across a clip that shows how a ballpoint really works.

Taking to popular video-streaming service TikTok, user Amber revealed her utter shock in a video, which has surpassed 1.1 million views since posting and is continuing to rocket. Sharing her disbelief, she admitted that throughout her 24 years of life, she was none the wiser to the revelation.

Stitching the original video, which has raked in a jaw-dropping 78.2 million views, a user shared a high detail and extreme close-up of the mechanisms of how the pen works, leaving Amber and millions of other viewers flabbergasted.

It showed that the pen is quite literally - a ball.

The part of the pen that produces ink surprisingly consists of a small ball of ink that rolls.

Amber was shook after discovering the video (@urgirlamberrrr/TikTok)

"My whole life has been a lie!" Amber exclaimed in her clip. "I'm 24 and I didn't know this is how a pen actually works.

"It's rolling!" She added.

However, despite Amber's disbelief, the discovery has caused a huge debate in the comment section. While some people have known the little-known insight for years - others claim that they were also none the wiser.

One person said: "It's literally called a 'ballpoint pen'."

Amber replied: "I know I know, is it because I've never seen it up close like that so it’s blown my mind??? Idk I feel super stupid."

"You don't feel it when you write?" Another asked.

The TikToker replied: "I thought it was a scrape rather than a roll."

However, one person wrote: "NO WAY, How did I not know this. My 17 years of existence has been a lie."

A different user agreed: "I didn’t know either."
