People are obsessed with new 'portable microwave' that lets you heat up meals anywhere

If you've ever wished you could heat food up on the go, because there's nothing like a hot lunch, then it's time to wave bye-bye to your daily meal deal.

Japanese firm Makita has launched a portable and cordless microwave, which will "heat 11 meals in between charges."

It can be carried around with you wherever you go, and you can use it to heat up microwave meals at your convenience.

On the train? No problem. Don't want to go to a restaurant but fancy a hot meal? The portable microwave has got you covered - as long as you can be bothered to lug 8.8kg around with you.

If you've ever wanted to microwave meals on the go, now's your time (Makita)

It does have a shoulder strap though, to make things a little easier.

You may not be the most popular person on the morning commute, however - especially if you're making meals that are particularly pungent first thing in the morning.

The microwave is currently only available to buy in Japan where it costs 110,000 yen, or around £670 - and you have to pay for the battery and the charger separately, making it a rather expensive investment.

It even comes with a charging port, so you could also use it as a portable phone charger, or iPad, whilst you're on the go too.

The microwave doesn't have a rotating dish like most microwaves, but it can be cleaned with a vacuum.

The company has hinted it could release its mobile microwave in Europe soon by sharing a teaser video on its Dutch TikTok channel, but there's no word of it coming to England yet.

In the Twitter comments, one person joked: "Finally, I can live out my dream of going across the country and microwaving fish in random places."

Would you invest in a portable microwave? Let us know in the comments.
