People are nominating the most dangerous cycle lanes in Edinburgh

Campaigners are hunting for Edinburgh's worst cycle lanes, seeking suggestions from riders about the most dangerous routes in the city.

The Pedal on Parliament group are looking to highlight painted bike lanes which bring cyclists into conflict with other road traffic.

To gauge the lack of protection offered by the lanes they're going to use an unusual measure - jelly babies laid out across the length of the lane.

The minimum length for a cycle lane should be 1.5 metres - 50 jelly babies - and the recommended length is 2 metres.

It comes after plans for a "human protected bike lane" to pop-up on Forrest Road during rush hour, which will be made up of people standing in the street.

More commuter chaos on the way: Leith Street is set to close to traffic again for three weeks

So far suggestions for the worst bike lane in Edinburgh have included the one on Morrison Street "painted in the middle of three lanes of busy traffic."

Other suggestions include the lanes near Summerhall, Chesser Avenue leading to Gorgie Road and outside Haymarket.

You can nominate your chosen lane on this Facebook post.

Pedal on Parliament have an upcoming event where they will be measuring the worst bike lane with jelly babies, it takes place on April 27 and you can find out more here.
