People are going wild after seeing how 'retro' London Tube carriages used to look

People have been fondly looking back in time after seeing how London Tube carriages used to look.

It comes after a video went viral showing what the carriages were like in the 1930s.

Filmed inside London Transport Museum, the TikTok allowed several people to see a 1930s Tube for the first time, and viewers were amazed by the Art Deco design.

Responding to @nycdocumented's video, one commenter thought the carriage looked like a hotel, while another said it reminded them of a pub.

"I love the retro look, they should definitely bring this back," said a third.

Although, as eagle-eyed viewers pointed out, while the carriages were introduced in the 30s, they weren't discontinued until much later.

"They still looked like that in the 60s and 70s from what I can remember," one man said. "And the 80s," another agreed.

"This rolling stock first entered service in 1938 but remained on the Underground network until 1988," the account confirmed.

Nonetheless, this did not stop the video from delighting thousands of viewers keen to glimpse back in time.

One woman asked: "How much more gorgeous could it get?"

@ nycdocumented replied: " They don't make 'em like they used to," before suggesting it is for the better since modern carriages use a "much more practical design".

According to the Museum's website, 1938-Stock was the most advanced electric tube train in the world when it was first introduced.

With the last 38-stock in service until 1988, the Tubes made millions of journeys.
