People are confusing new Beatles mural with Cilla Black and even the Nolans

A new Beatles mural has attracted plenty of attention since it appeared in the Baltic Triangle .

Although it is unmistakably of the Fab Four, the representations of John, Paul, George and Ringo has provoked some comment on social media.

They have been likened to Cast, the Bunnymen - even the Nolans, while McCartney has been said to resemble Pete Wylie, Liza Minnelli, or Cilla Black!

The mural in Watkinson Street was created by Liverpool-based street artist John Culshaw.

Here is a selection of some of the comments posted since the artwork was completed a few days ago.

Eugene Brown said: "Don't forget, they spent a considerable amount of time on Acid etc... this paints that picture perfectly."

Wes Hughes said: "IT the sequel coming to cinemas soon."

Wesley Storey said: "This is only marginally less terrifying than that bronze statue of Ken Dodd in Lime Street."

Oxybong Moonfat said: "I thought it was a Star Trek picture."

Phil Dig Downey said: "About time The Swinging Blue Jeans had a mural."

Liverpool Baltic Triangle's area director Tristan Brady-Jacobs said: "We are always excited by any new street art work and a local business that allows their wall to be used legally for what I hope will be a new gallery space in the Baltic Triangle."

The most popular Beatles attraction in the city remains the bronze statues at the Pier Head , which have become a popular spot for selfies by tourists and visitors since the giant figures were first unveiled in December 2015.
