People adored opening montage of The Late Late Show as it made triumphant return

The first shot we saw was Ryan Tubridy collecting Olympic Gold medalist Kellie Harrington from Portland Row to drop her off at her friend's wedding.

But not before a sing-along of the iconic Hakuna Matata and Ryan managing to stall the car.

She revealed that she was going to stay amateur instead of going up to the professional ranks, but the whole thing got people excited about the year.

One tweeted: "Ah, this is nice. Different."

While another said: "What an opening to the new season of @RTELateLateShow @Kelly64kg is an absolute legend!"

And a third said that it gave them a sense of normality, saying: "The Late Late is back so I’m ignoring the fact it’s gonna be 24c on Monday & pretending it’s cosy Autumn evenings already."

Someone else said: "Already a happier vibe on this year's #latelate #LateLateShow Hated Ryan's sermons at the start of the show last year. Great to have him back to normal."

But others couldn't help but spot a resemblance to, er, another Late Late Show's famous bit.

"I love Kellie Harrington. Let's ignore the copycat factor of carpool karaoke. It's great and she's deadly" said one woman.

"I'd say James Corden is nervous Tubidy does carpool karaoke" added a second.

While a third noted: "The Late Late back with a studio audience. Tubridy being totally cringe. Nature is healing."
