The Pentagon has released a fresh batch of declassified UFO files, unveiling dozens of reports, witness accounts and videos that were previously unavailable to the public. The latest release includes claims of giant triangular objects, unexplained lights tracked by pilots and a decades-old report of a mysterious metal sphere that allegedly contained what witnesses believed was a human body.
The newly released documents form the fifth tranche of the government's Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) disclosures. While the files preserve eyewitness testimony and investigative records, officials have not presented any evidence confirming that the reported objects were extraterrestrial.
Military pilot describes silent 500-foot triangular object over Afghanistan
Among the most striking accounts is an FBI interview summary describing an encounter over Bagram Airfield, a US-operated base in Afghanistan, in 2002.
According to the report, a military pilot and a colleague were stargazing at around 4:30 a.m. when they noticed the stars suddenly disappearing overhead.
"It appeared as if something huge went overhead," the FBI summary states.
The pilot described seeing a silent equilateral triangle measuring roughly 500 feet across. The object reportedly moved at a steady altitude and speed without any visible lights.
The witness estimated it was traveling at about 173 mph before performing an unusual maneuver. According to the report, the craft rolled 90 degrees onto its left side while turning right—opposite to the banking motion expected from a conventional aircraft—before returning to level flight.
The second pilot reportedly saw the same object and asked, "Did you see that?" as it passed overhead.
Pilot later reported unexplained lights during commercial flights
The same FBI file also documents the pilot's reports of unexplained aerial lights seen during commercial flights beginning in October 2023.
The pilot said he first noticed the lights while flying from Boston to Dublin at 37,000 feet. He believed the objects were at least 13,000 feet above his aircraft.
According to the report, the lights brightened and dimmed in cycles lasting between 10 seconds and one minute. Some remained stationary, while others traveled in straight lines or suddenly changed direction.
Although the lights resembled aircraft landing lights, the pilot said their movement did not match airplanes, meteors, satellites or Starlink satellites.
He reported witnessing similar phenomena about 10 times, with individual sightings lasting between 45 minutes and two hours. During one flight near Sioux Falls in February 2024, he reportedly recorded more than 10 lights changing brightness while his aircraft cruised at approximately Mach 0.80.
The pilot said he never felt threatened and estimated the objects remained at least 100 miles away.
Former Pentagon employee reports giant black triangle over Colorado
Another declassified file details a reported sighting over Colorado Springs in October 2023 by a former Pentagon employee and his wife.
The witness described a silent black triangular object flying at an estimated altitude of 300 feet.
According to the report, the object appeared to be "almost see-through," surrounded by a haze or distortion that resembled looking through mist or water.
The witness also described a silver-blue band of light appearing as the object departed, suggesting it could have been linked to its propulsion system. The object reportedly traveled in a straight path at a constant elevation before abruptly shifting into an almost vertical position and disappearing.
1963 Brazil report claims metal sphere contained human body
One of the most unusual files revisits a reported incident from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1963.
Witnesses claimed a large metal sphere crashed into the ground, leaving a crater approximately 13 feet deep.
According to witness statements preserved in the files, the object featured window-like openings covered with thick glass. Inside, observers reportedly saw what appeared to be a human body wearing heavy clothing marked with inscriptions they could not identify.
However, the released records make clear that the case consists of witness testimony and media reports rather than verified government findings. The documents provide no evidence that the object was of extraterrestrial origin.
Pentagon says release is part of transparency effort
The latest disclosure includes 41 declassified files containing eyewitness accounts, investigative records, illustrations and videos as part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE).
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the release reflects the Trump administration's commitment to making more information publicly available.
"The Department of War is in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government's understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena."
He added: "These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation, and it's time the American people see it for themselves."
Hegseth also said the release demonstrates the administration's commitment to greater transparency.
Despite the extraordinary claims documented in the files, the released records do not conclude that any of the reported incidents involved alien spacecraft or extraterrestrial technology. Instead, they preserve eyewitness accounts and investigative material that have now been made public as part of the government's ongoing UAP disclosure program.
