Pensioner with 'limited mobility' wanted in connection with sex assault investigation

Detectives are appealing for information about a pensioner wanted in connection with a sexual assault investigation.

Police want to speak to John Hartless after a woman reported being attacked in Skelmersdale.

Officers have now released an image of the Liverpool man in a bid to trace the 73-year-old.

Hartless, of Waresley Crescent in Fazakerley, is described as being 6ft tall and of heavy build, with grey hair.

Lancashire Police, which said its officers wanted to speak with him after a woman reported being sexually assaulted at an address in February, said he has limited mobility.

Detective Constable Michael Feeley, of the force's Ormskirk neighbourhood unit, said: “Hartless is wanted in connection with a serious offence and we would appeal to anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.

“I would also urge Hartless, if he sees this appeal, to come forward and speak to police immediately.”

Hartless is said to have links to the Dorset, Sussex, Hampshire, North Wales and Cheshire areas.

Anyone with information can call Lancashire Police on 101 or email 6976@lancashire.police.uk. You can also contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
