Woman who was hit by car in Sunderland and died in hospital named by police as Jean Hardy

A woman who died after being hit by a car in Sunderland has been named by police.

Jean Hardy was hit by the vehicle at around 5.45pm on Tuesday, February 4.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Doxford Park Way and took the 71-year-old to hospital with a number of serious injuries.

However, Mrs Hardy, who is from Doxford Park, has now died.

Specially trained officers are supporting her family following her death.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing and police are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

Officers are keen to speak to any motorists who were driving in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage of the incident.
