Pensioner who died after being hit by car in Caerphilly is named

A pensioner who died after being hit by a car in Caerphilly earlier this month has been named by police.

The pedestrian, 84-year-old Illtyd Morgan from Caerphilly, was hit by the vehicle on Bedwas Road shortly after midday on April 6.

Mr Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation was launched by Gwent Police following the incident, and officers are currently appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A statement from Gwent Police said: "We were called to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and a car in Bedwas Road, shortly before 12.20pm on Tuesday, April 6.

"The pedestrian, who died at the scene, can now be named as Illtyd Morgan, aged 84, from Caerphilly.

"His family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

"We are continuing to investigate the collision and would appeal to anyone with any information, who has not yet spoken with officers, to get in contact.
