Pensioner tragically dies as Scots road shut down by emergency services

A Scots road was closed off on Friday afternoon after the death of a pensioner.

Emergency services were scrambled to Napier Road in Glenrothes at around 2.30pm on Friday, April 27.

Cops were alerted after reports of a man having taken unwell.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, police have confirmed an 87-year-old man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

It's understood his next of kin has been made aware.

The road was shut down while emergency services dealt with the incident, with police cars and ambulances at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At around 2.30pm on Friday, 27 April, police received a report of a man having taken unwell on Napier Road in Glenrothes.

“Emergency services attended and an 87-year-old man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

"His next of kin has been made aware.

“The death is being not being treated as suspicious.”
