Pensioner taken to hospital with serious injuries following car crash at Coryton Interchange

A driver in his 70s has suffered serious injuries following a crash just off the M4 in Cardiff.

South Wales Police confirmed the crash took place at the Coryton Interchange shortly before 3am on Friday, April 26.

A spokesman said the driver was taken to the University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries.

His female passenger was also taken to hospital.

"The vehicle had been travelling westbound along the M4 before leaving the motorway at Coryton," the police spokesman said.

"Officers have urged anyone who witnessed the collision, including capturing it on their dash-cam, or who may have any other relevant information such as the manner of driving on the M4 prior to the collision, to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit via 101, quoting occurrence 1900148554."

The car involved was a silver-coloured Citroen C3 SX.
