Pensioner taken to hospital after being hit by car in Horwich

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Bolton.

Emergency services were called to Lee Lane in Horwich - near to Sainsbury's Local - at around 12.30pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

A 79-year-old is said to have suffered injuries to her hands and knees and was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.25am to reports of an RTC involving a car and a pedestrian near Sainsbury's supermarket.

"We sent an ambulance to the scene.

"A female patient in her 80s was treated for injuries to her hands and knees. These are not thought to be serious.

"She was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital."
