Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Rhondda

A woman has been taken to hospital after a collision with a car in the Rhondda.

The incident occurred shortly after 12.10pm on Tuesday and emergency services were called to William Street in Ystrad.

Police and ambulance have attended, as well as the air ambulance. The woman was treated at scene by the air ambulance's on-board doctors and critical care practitioner.

The injured pedestrian has been transferred by road ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales with possible life threatening injuries.

William Street has since reopened to traffic.
