Pensioner suffers facial injuries after her car ploughs into parked vehicle

These shocking pictures show a pensioner's mangled car moments after it struck a parked vehicle on a major Liverpool road.

The driver, a woman in her 80s, suffered facial injuries in the smash on Queens Drive today.

Pictures from the ECHO's Andy Teebay show the car with crumpled frontage and smashed window loaded onto a recovery vehicle.

Police confirmed they were called to the crash at 10.45am which saw the Hyundai i10 car strike a parked Honda Jazz car close to Childwall Sports and Science Academy.

Despite the damage the elderly motorist did not require hospital treatment but was treated by paramedics at the scene.

A Merseyside Police spokesman told the ECHO : " Police were called around 10.45am to reports of a road traffiic collision on Queens Drive, near the academy.

"A Hyundai i10 car, driven by a woman in her 80s, was involved in a collision with a parked Honda Jazz car."

He added: "The woman was treated at the scene for a facial injury bit did not need to be taken to hospital."
