Pensioner struck by car on busy Glasgow street

An elderly man has been struck by a car on a busy street in Glasgow.

Emergency service rushed to the incident on Derby Street, just off Argyle Street, in Finnieston at around 1.50pm on Thursday afternoon.

They descended on the scene after a 71-year-old man was involved in a collision with a car.

Eyewitnesses told Glasgow Live that they saw an injured man lying on the road as well as a vacant wheelchair nearby.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision in Derby Street, involving a 71-year-old man and a car, around 1.50pm.

“The man was treated at the scene and his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.”
