Pensioner singing Penny Arcade in care home becomes This Morning star

A pensioner in a care home has become an unlikely daytime TV star after delighting This Morning hosts and viewers with his spirited rendition of a classic song.

The man, called John, appeared on Tuesday's instalment of the ITV show, when hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby crossed live to Dearnlea Park Care Home, where he is a resident.

The Rotherham care home went viral over the weekend as the many elderly people living there made placards with messages on to their loved ones on Mother's Day an one of the carers revealed that John made a rather rude one about coronavirus, with a more family friendly 'do one coronavirus' one used for This Morning.

And then John showed just what a character he is by serenading Holly and many watching at home with his take on karaoke anthem Penny Arcade and as Phillip and Holly cut away from him, he then continued on with the chorus and danced in front of his fellow residents, as you can watch in the amazing video above.

One viewer reacted: "Bloomin’ brilliant, hail to our Elders hugz to them all, Be Kind Stay Safe," and another tweeted: "This is great he’s fab."

Staff at Dearnlea Park said they'd been blown away by the reaction to their messages to families, which even attracted interest from Fox News in America, and also thanked the local community for all their help during this difficult time.
