Pensioner seriously injured after four-car horror crash in busy Scots high street

A pensioner was seriously injured following a horror four-car crash in East Lothian.

At around 10.35am on Thursday a blue Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision with three other motors on the A199, North High Street in Musselburgh.

Emergency services raced to the scene and attended to the 83-year-old driver of the Vauxhall.

He was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Medics say the OAP is in a serious but stable condition.

Police are now appealing for witnesses as part of their investigation into the smash.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes said: “The 83-year-old driver sustained significant injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened.



“I would appeal to anyone who was on the road around 10.30am on Thursday morning, particularly motorists with dashcams, to please get in touch if you have information that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit through 101, quoting incident number 0997 of Thursday August 27.”
