Pensioner rushed to hospital with serious injuries after horror crash in Glasgow

A pensioner was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after a horror crash in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to the two-car smash on Ashgill Road at around 10.30am on Thursday, August 19.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene as the road was sealed off in both directions.

It has been confirmed one woman, a female passenger in one of the cars, was left seriously injured.

The 76-year-old was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for urgent treatment.

An investigation into the incident has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a road crash involving two cars on Ashgill Road at Balmore Road in Glasgow around 10.30am on Thursday, 19 August, 2021.

“The 76-year-old female passenger of one of the cars was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

“The road was re-opened around 4.50pm. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
