Pensioner rushed to hospital after 'cowardly' attack inside his car in South Lanarkshire

An elderly man was seriously injured in a “cowardly attack” inside his car in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to Udston Road in Stonehouse at around 4.15pm on Wednesday, April 8 after reports of an assault in the area.

The 86-year-old victim was raced to Hairmyres Hospital, where he was treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries following the incident.

Police are appealing for information as they continue to track down those behind the vile attack.

Detective Inspector John Lewis, of Cambuslang CID said: “It has been three weeks since this incident took place and we are encouraging anyone with any information to come forward.

“An elderly man has suffered serious injuries and we want to identify those responsible for this cowardly attack.

“I would ask that anyone with any information or possible dashcam footage of the area between 4pm-4.30pm to get in touch with officers.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 0929 of April 10, 2020.”
