Pensioner left 'shaken' after being targeted by robber as she returned from Covid vaccination

A woman in her 70s has been left 'shaken' after being targeted by a robber as she returned home from her Covid vaccination.

Police were called out to a property on Rectory Green, in Prestwich, at 8.55am this morning (March 28).

Officers received a report of the woman being robbed of her mobile phone and bank card by a man as she returned having received her Covid jab.

The woman wasn’t injured but was left understandably shaken, Greater Manchester Police says.

A short time later, a man believed to be the offender was seen by officers on Bury New Road.

GMP says the man resisted arrest during a chase, leading to a Taser being deployed and a baton being used by officers.

The man received a head wound before making off from police and his whereabouts is now unknown.

Officers have released images of a man whose welfare they are concerned for and who they are also keen to speak to in connection with the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bury CID on 0161 856 8078 quoting incident 795 of March 28.

Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
