A pensioner was left lying in the road after being seriously hurt in a hit and run.
Lancashire Police rushed to Pendle Road in Leyland at around 11.30am on Monday, August 29 following reports of a crash. Once at the scene officers found a woman in her 80s seriously injured in the street after being hit by a car, believed to be a dark-coloured VW Polo or Golf, which fled the scene.
Police called the North West Ambulance Service for assistance and the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she remains. Her injuries are still described as "serious".

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a crash a number of hours later. The man is in custody.
Sgt Phil Baxendale, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “This collision has left an elderly lady with some serious injuries and the driver has failed to stop at the scene and has made off. I’m really grateful to everyone who came forward with information and after a number of enquiries we have now made an arrest in relation to our investigation.
“I would continue to ask anyone who has any information about this collision, or any dashcam, CCTV or mobile footage, to come forward and contact us.”
