Pensioner is attacked by rottweiler dog while walking her own pet in gardens of West Lothian nursing home

A 68 year-old woman and her dog were attacked by Rottweiler-Doberman cross wile walking in the gardens of a West Lothian nursing home.

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses after the woman and her Schauzer/Bichon Frise cross were attacked at around 2.30pm in the grounds of Holmes Gardens care Home in Broxburn.

The pensioner was taken to hospital and treated for a lip injury and her dog suffered several puncture marks to its back and legs and required medication.

PC Kirsty Forsyth of Broxburn Police Station said: “We are keen to trace a man described as in his 30s, 5ft 3, with a heavy build, thinning brown hair wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

"The dog responsible is described as a large black and tan Doberman/Rottweiler type dog and the man was also with a medium ginger coloured type dog."

PC Forsyth added: “Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2129 of 5 November, 2021.”
