Pensioner in critical condition after being hit by car on Aberdeen street

A pensioner is in a critical condition in hospital today after being hit by a car in Aberdeen .

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the Lang Stracht near its junction with Stronsay Drive at around 4pm on Monday after reports a woman had been hit by a vehicle.

The 69-year-old suffered serious injuries after being struck by a red Hyundai.

She was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by ambulance where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

The road was closed for several hours while cops carried out their investigations into the incident.

Road Policing Sergeant Craig McNeill said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to get in touch with us.

"I would be particularly interested to speak to anyone who was on the Lang Stracht at the time with a dash cam as that may greatly assist our enquiries.

"Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2931 of 23rd December 2019."
