Pensioner hospitalised after being knocked down sparking police investigations

A pensioner has been hospitalised after being knocked down in Johnstone.

The 75-year-old was crossing in Thornhill when he was struck by a Mercedes car driven by a 60-year-old man.

The accident happened around 4.35pm on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene and rushed the victim to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he is being treated for his injuries.

Hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

Constable Steven Kirkwood based at Renfrew Police Office is appealing for information. 

He said:  “Our enquiries are continuing into this crash and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone who was driving on the road at the time who has dash-cam to contact us, as they may have information that will assist our ongoing investigation.

“Information can be passed to Renfrew Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 2434 of Friday, 20 March.”
