Pensioner hermit who eats roadkill and lives in forest hopes to 'marry a Kardashian'

A 70-year-old hermit living in a tumbledown cottage with no TV is hoping to bag himself an A-list wife.

Jake Williams set up home in a tumbledown cottage in the middle of a forest in Cairngorms 40 years ago and survives on a diet of roadkill stir-fry.

The former seaman, who has two cats for company ,said he is longing to find a woman to share his bizarre life with and joked that a Kardashian would do, Daily Record reports.

Jake is one of the stars of Channel 5 series Ben Fogle’s New Lives in the Wild.

In the episode, which goes out on Tuesday night, Jake tells Ben he is an accidental hermit after hoping his wilderness home near Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, would become a hippie commune.

“I’m getting older and I’m going to need some young people to help me run the place.

"I’m going to marry a Kardashian and have loads of children. Seriously though, I would like to meet someone pleasant.

“I was married years ago but it fizzled out.

"Maybe if that book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus was around back then I might still be married. I’m always hopeful.”

Jake grew up in Inverness and studied science at Aberdeen University, where he joined a commune before buying the cottage in the 1970s.

He said: “I’m one of life’s refugees and this just happens to be where I’ve ended up.

“I eat roadkill if it’s not too squished. It’s easy to find and the price is right. I’ve got a huge vegetable garden. I’ve never gone hungry and touch wood I never will.”

Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild, is on Channel 5, Tuesdays at 9pm.
