Pensioner had to be cut from wreckage following crash in Stockport

Two people were taken to hospital following a car crash in Stockport.

A woman in her 70s was cut free from the wreckage by firefighters after two vehicles collided in Hazel Grove.

She was taken to hospital with a head injury.

A man in his 50s was also taken to hospital with a chest injury following the incident on Bramhall Moor Lane at around 11am.

Pictures from the scene show the road cordoned off amid a large emergency services response.

A red car can be seen within the cordon with its roof removed.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision between two vehicles on Bramhall Moor Lane, Hazel Grove, Stockport, at 11.14am today."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 11.03am to reports of an road traffic collision involving involving two vehicles.

"Two patients were taken to hospital - a man in his 50s suffered a chest injury and a woman in her 70s suffered a head injury and had to be released from vehicle by the fire service."
