Pensioner found dead inside car at Scots Tesco store as cops launch probe

A police probe has been launched after a Scots pensioner was found dead inside his car at a Tesco supermarket in Aberdeen.

The alarm was raised at around 3.10pm on Sunday, January 24, following reports the 73-year-old was found unresponsive inside the vehicle that was parked on Rousay Drive.

Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service raced to the scene but the OAP was sadly pronounced dead a short time later without being taken to hospital.

Officers are working to determine the exact circumstances of his death but believe he likely fell ill behind the wheel.

They are keen to speak to any shoppers who may have seen the blue Nissan Micra driving into the parking lot at around 3pm.

Sergeant Smith of the Road Policing Unit said, "We are working to establish the exact circumstances at this time and although we believe that the man has taken ill at the wheel, we are asking any witnesses to come forward.

"I would urge anyone who saw the blue Nissan Micra being driven in the car park around 3pm on Sunday afternoon, to contact us.

"We would also ask for anyone with dash camera footage to come forward.

"Anyone with information should contact 101 and quote incident reference number 2121 of Sunday, 24th January 2021."
