Pensioner fighting for life in Glasgow hospital after being attacked in close

A pensioner was rushed to a Glasgow hospital with life-threatening injuries after being attacked in Johnstone.

The 65-year-old was found seriously injured within the close of a property on High Street around 10.30pm on Sunday.

Police say the man was rushed by ambulance to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Detectives have launched an appeal for potential witnesses or anyone who assisted the man to come forward.

Detective Inspector Robert Bowie, of Paisley CID, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into the incident and how this man came to be injured.

“I would urge anyone who may have assisted the man or witnessed what happened to come forward.

“Anyone with information should call police via 101, quoting incident 3711 of 3 April, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
