Pensioner fighting for her life after being struck by vehicle horror crash on Hamilton road

A pensioner is fighting for her life in hospital after being struck down in a horror crash on a Hamilton road.

The collision happened at around 1.30pm yesterday (Monday, August 16) on Townhead Street and involved a recovery vehicle.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident and the 65-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police Scotland has confirmed the woman suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash with enquiries ongoing, the Daily Record reports.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Around 1.30pm on Monday, August 16, 2021, officers were called to a road crash on Townhead Street, Hamilton, where a 65-year-old woman had been struck by a recovery vehicle.

"She was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow suffering from life-threatening injuries.

"Enquiries are continuing."
