Pensioner fighting for her life after being hit by recovery vehicle in horror crash on Scots road

A pensioner is fighting for her life after being struck by a recovery vehicle on a Scots road.

Emergency services scrambled to Townhead Street in Hamilton after the horror crash happened at around 1.30pm on Monday, August 16.

Ambulance crews attended and the 65-year-old woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.

She suffered life threatening injuries.

Police say their enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.30pm on Monday, August 16, 2021, officers were called to a road crash on Townhead Street, Hamilton, where a 65-year-old woman had been struck by a recovery vehicle.

"She was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow suffering from life threatening injuries.

"Enquiries are continuing."
