Pensioner drives car through brick wall and into someone's garage

An OAP had to be rescued from her Mercedes car after it demolished a brick wall and got wedged inside a private garage. The 83-year-old's hatchback sustained a smashed windscreen as it was impaled by a metal bar and bricks.

Fire crews released the woman from the Mercedes A150 before she was taken to hospital in an ambulance. Police attended the incident involving two cars in Lower Stondon, Beds on Monday afternoon.

Bedfordshire Fire Control released pictures of the scene on Twitter. The unit tweeted: "One female casualty has been released by our Shefford & Kempston crews and conveyed to hospital by Ambulance."

Emergency services have been contacted for an update on the driver's condition.
