Pensioner dies as a result of injuries five weeks on from Northumberland crash

A pensioner whose car collided with a tractor has died as a result of her injuries five weeks on from the crash.

Police are today appealing for witnesses to the collision, which happened on the Military Road, in Northumberland, on September 3.

The 74-year-old was driving a white Kia Picanto travelling west when she collided with a tractor and trailer travelling eastbound, close to the Stagshaw roundabout, near Corbridge .

She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, following the smash, which happened at around 2pm.

But the woman died at home on October 11.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "Her family are currently being supported by specially trained officers.



"The road was closed for three hours while officers were in attendance at the scene and both vehicles were recovered.

"Officers are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to this incident and are especially interested in hearing from anybody who has dash cam footage."
