A pensioner has tragically died and an elderly woman is in a critical condition after an early morning crash in Co Kerry.
The elderly man died in University Hospital Kerry after the two-vehicle collision at Finnegans Cross, Kilcummin.
The woman was also rushed to hospital, where she is now fighting for her life.
A second woman was hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries after the crash, which happened at around 6.45am.
Gardai have sealed off the scene and appealed for witnesses of the incident to come forward.
A spokesman said: "A Garda forensic team is currently at the scene.
"The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users travelling in the area at the time of the collision who may have camera footage to contact Killarney Garda station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
