A pensioner has tragically died and left fighting for her life after a horror two-car crash on a Scots road.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the smash on the A815 near to Benmore Park, near Dunoon, at around 3.15pm on Monday November 22.
A red Honda Civic and a grey Subaru Outback were involved in the crash.
Two women, a 74-year-old driver and 77-year-old passenger of the Honda Civic, were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with serious injuries.
Sadly the latter was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver remains in a critical condition.
The 64-year-old female passenger in the Subaru Outback sustained serious injuries and was also taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. She is said to be in a stable condition.
The 69-year-old man who had been driving the car sustained minor injuries.
The road was locked down by cops for around eight hours as they carried out a probe into the incident.
Police are now urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
Inspector Archie McGuire, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of those involved in this crash.
“We are appealing for the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash and I would ask if you were driving in the area at the time or witnessed the crash that you come forward and speak to police.
“If any motorists have dashcam footage that could help with our enquiries, please contact our officers.”
