Pensioner dies after horror Highland car crash

An elderly pedestrian has died following a car crash in Nairn last week.

The 91-year-old was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle following the incident on the road nearby.

He was rushed to Raigmore Hospital after the accident last Thursday evening but tragically has since succumbed to his injuries.

A police spokesman confirmed officers were called around 4.50pm to the junction of Thurlow Road and Seafield Street.

This followed reports of a collision between a black Mazda, a red Honda and the pedestrian.

Police Sergeant Alasdair MacKay of the Road Policing Unit said : “The man was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment for serious injuries and has now passed away.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are still appealing for information surrounding the crash and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us through 101, quoting reference number 2265 of Thursday, 21 January, 2021.”
