Pensioner dies after horror fire in Barrhead care home

A pensioner has died after a horror fire at a care home in Barrhead.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the blaze at the Parkhouse Manor Care Home at around 8.10pm last night.

As reported by Paisley Daily Express, Police Scotland have confirmed a 66-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have launched a joint investigation following the fatal blaze, with officers having cordoned off the area.

Detective Sergeant Emma Patrick, from Greater Glasgow CID, told the PDE: “Around 8.10pm on Wednesday, April 8, officers were called to a nursing home in the Parkhouse Road following reports of a fire.

"A 66-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

"A joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be carried out to establish the full circumstances.”
