Pensioner dies after being found injured on Edinburgh street

A pensioner has died after being found unconscious on an Edinburgh street .

Emergency services were called to the scene on Learmonth Terrace in the Craigleith area at around 9.50am on Sunday.

A 75-year-old man was found injured on the ground and rushed to hospital .

But officers have now confirmed that he tragically passed away a short time later.

A probe is ongoing to try and determine how the man became to be injured but the death is currently being treated as “unexplained”.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 9.50am on Sunday March 1st, police received a report of a 75-year-old man being found unconscious in Learmonth Terrace, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital where he later died.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death which is currently being treated as unexplained.”
