Pensioner cyclist fighting for life after serious crash on Scots road

A pensioner cyclist is in fighting for his life after a serious road crash on a Scots road.

He is believed to have lost control while cycling north along the A841 at Sannox Bridge, Shore Road on the Isle of Arran.

The man then fell onto the southbound carriageway around 2.55pm on Thursday August 19, according to Police Scotland.

The 71-year-old was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment via air ambulance and his condition is described as critical.

Police officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or motorists with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Craig Beaver from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine said: “The road was relatively busy at the time of the incident, with other cyclists and motorists, and is important we speak to anyone who may have information to help us establish the full circumstances.

“I am appealing for any witness to get in touch and would also urge motorists with dash-cams, who were travelling on the A841 at the time, to please check their footage in case they have captured anything of relevance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland through 101, quoting incident number 2066 of Thursday, 19 August, 2021.”
