Pensioner critical after crash with cyclist in Tipperary

A man in his 70s has been left with serious head injuries and is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash with a cyclist in Tipperary.

The incident between the pedestrian and cyclist happened at around 6.35pm on Monday, January 6 on the N24 at Glenconnor Upper in Clonmel.

The pensioner was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital with serious head injuries and he is currently in a critical condition.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Forensic Collision Investigators have carried out a technical examination of the scene.

"Gardai at Clonmel are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this collision, particurly any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the area at the time, to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 6177640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

It's the second serious accident involving a pedestrian in 24 hours.

An elderly man was seriously injured in a collision on the outskirts of Galway city on Monday evening.
