Pensioner charged with burgling coronavirus testing centre as staff waited for next patient

A man from Durham will appear in court accused of stealing protective equipment from a coronavirus testing centre.

Jack Misiak, of Pilgrims Way, Durham, will appear in court charged with the burglary of masks, a hand gel, protective suits and also a watch belonging to a nurse.

It happened on the grounds of the University Hospital of North Durham, on the afternoon of Friday, April 10 while hospital staff were waiting for their next patient.

The 67-year-old will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 14.

Coronavirus testing centres have opened around the country which tests for the virus.
