A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and wilful fire-raising.
The man, aged in his 80s, was held after police received reports that a man had set fire to a property at 9pm on Saturday August 21.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help them with their enquiries.
A pensioner was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life at a property in the Glassdrumman Road area of Annalong.
In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, August 24, Inspector Weatherald, PSNI County Down, confirmed the man had been taken to hospital, where he is still receiving treatment for his injuries.
Detectives are now appealing to the public for help.
Inspector Weatherald said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the Glassdrumman Road area around the time, or who may have any information that could assist our enquiries, to contact 101 quoting reference number 1877 of 21/08/21.”
