Pensioner arrested after two women, 70s and 40s, seriously injured in terrifying Meath arson attack

A man has been arrested after two women were rushed to hospital following an arson attack.

Gardai are investigating the blaze that happened at a home in the Beauparc area of Navan yesterday at around 6pm.

Two women, aged in their 70s and 40s, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda (70s) and St James's Hospital Dublin (40s) for their injuries.

A man, aged in his 70s, has been arrested and is currently detained at Navan Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination. Investigations are ongoing."
